He was unable to do so as expected to start like India and played a goalless draw from Bangladesh’s football team in the third round qualifying match of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup here on Tuesday. Bangladesh was a little better in the first half but did not get any clear opportunity, during this time he achieved a little more aggressive move and corner kick.
But India performed much better in the next 45 minutes, which increased a lot of pressure on Bangladesh, but the opportunity was very low. India’s goalkeeper Vishal Kath made a mistake in the 12th minute and he hit the ball to the opposition player. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Mohammad Ridoy sent the ball to the open net from the deflection but Subhashish Bose managed to stop it on the goal line.
India got the best chance in the 31st minute, but Udanta Singh’s header on the cross of Liston Colako failed to dodge Bangladesh goalkeeper Mitul Marma. Performing brilliantly in the second half for India, Bose made a great effort from a distance, although in the 68th minute it missed the goal by dodging the Bangladesh goalkeeper.
Five minutes later, Farooq Chaudhary’s shot from the right leg went away after being defended by Bangladeshi defender. In the 84th minute, star striker Sunil Chhetri achieved a free header inside the Bangladesh box but his effort could not succeed. Bangladesh’s midfielder Hamza Chaudhary is currently playing for Sheffield United on ‘Laceter City’ from English Premier League team Lesser City. He could not do anything special in most of the match.
India had earlier defeated Maldives 3–0 in the International Friendship match on March 19 in which the charismatic striker Sunil Chhetri returned to the national team while this was the first win of coach Manolo Marquette as a head coach.
Both teams will again face face to face in Bangladesh on 18 November. However, India’s next qualifying round match will be against Hong Kong in Kovaloon on 10 June.
