Muhammad Yunus on India Relations: The country’s command is in the hands of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus since Sheikh Hasina was coup in Bangladesh. There has also been a rift in the relations of neighboring country with India. Regarding this, Muhammad Yunus says that there is no alternative to maintaining good relations between Bangladesh and India, because there were some flaws in the relationship and these came due to propaganda.
During the interview to BBC Bangla, he said, “Some struggle was seen in the middle. I would say that there were some clouds. These clouds came due to most of the propaganda. Other people will also consider it as propaganda.” The interim government in Bangladesh is about to complete seven months and diplomatic sources say that during the BIMSTEC summit to be held in Bangkok on April 4, 2025, there may be a face-to-face meeting between Chief Advisor Professor Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time.
‘India-Bangladesh relations very deep’
In response to a question, Younus said that the relationship between the two neighbors is very good and there has been no decline in it. Dr. Yunus said that after this some misunderstandings were born. He said, “We are trying to remove those misunderstandings. There is no problem in our basic relations.” The Chief Advisor said that he has always explained that relations between Bangladesh and India are very deep, relationships are good and will remain good in future.
‘Priority to maintain good relations with India’
He said that the relationship between Bangladesh and India is “historical, political and economically” very close and they cannot be “distracted by it.” He said that continuous dialogue between the two countries is going on. On January 1, Foreign Affairs advisor Mohammad Tauheed Hussain clarified that in 2025, maintaining good relations with three big countries – India, China and the United States is among the priorities. He emphasized that Dhaka’s relations with Delhi will move beyond one issue.
