Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypt, who visited a two -day China visit on 26 January, met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi today i.e. on Monday. According to China’s official newspaper Global Times, the Chinese Foreign Minister asked to take concrete measures to increase mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said that both should avoid mutual doubts, estrangement and tiredness.
At the same time, the Indian Secretary said that both countries continuously managed their disputed issues through dialogues. Soon the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China is scheduled to complete 75 years. On this, Vikram Egypt said that we are ready to work with China to jointly celebrate the 75th anniversary of establishing these relations.
Communist Party’s International Department Head also met
Earlier on Sunday, the Indian Foreign Secretary met the Communist Party of China Central Committee International Department Head Liu Jianchao in Beijing. During this time, the two officials spoke on the implementation of Ladakh border agreement, strengthening mutual dialogues and many local and international issues.
Second high-profile visit from India in 6 weeks
In less than six weeks, it is a second high-profile visit from India to China. Earlier, India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval had come to attend the 23rd meeting of special representative level between India and China last month.
This visit of the Foreign Secretary involves how to reduce tension on the border in Eastern Ladakh and resume Kailash Mansarovar. Apart from this, issues like starting direct flights between the two countries and issuing visas to Chinese citizens easily include issues. Tension in relationship with 2020 flock clashes
On 15 June 2020, China deposited troops in the border areas of Eastern Ladakh on the pretext of exercise. This was followed by incidents of infiltration at many places. The Government of India also deployed equal number of soldiers in this area as China. The situation became so bad that bullets were fired on LAC.
Meanwhile, on 15 June, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash with the Chinese Army in the Galwan Valley. Later, India also gave a befitting reply to this. About 60 Chinese soldiers were killed in it. Since then, the relationship between the two countries had become quite tense.
