According to a report published in The Indian Express, India wants to host the World Test Championship final and has also bid for it. The BCCI raised this demand in the meeting of the ICC Chief Executive Committee held in Zimbabwe last month. This demand from India was raised by Arun Singh Dhumal, who is also sitting on the post of IPL chairman.
England hosted so far
The first final of the World Test Championship was played in Hampshire, England in 2021. In that title collision, New Zealand won the trophy by defeating Team India by 8 wickets. The second final was played in 2023, hosted by The Oval ground in London. This time the Indian team was defeated by Australia by 209 runs in the final.
Now the third final will be played between Australia and South Africa, it is also going to host it England. England’s Lord’s ground will host the 2025 World Test Championship. Now due to India’s demand, the process of playing the final in England can be broken. Talking about the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle, India will start its campaign with the Test series against England. 5 Test matches are to be played between the two countries.
