
US President Donald Trump said that dialogue with India is going on very well and he feels that there will be a trade agreement between the two countries. Donald Trump said this on Tuesday (April 29, 2025) in a brief conversation with journalists outside the official residence and office of the US President.
He said, ‘I think we will compromise with India.’ CNBC News quoted US President Trump as saying, “As you know, Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) came here three weeks ago and wants to compromise.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the White House in late February. Donald Trump made this comment a day after the US Finance Minister Scott Besant’s statement that India will join the first countries to finalize the bilateral trade agreement with the US to avoid counter -duty.
US President Donald Trump on April 2 announced a comprehensive retaliation on several countries including India and China. However, on April 9, he except China and Hong Kong imposed a 90 -day ban on these fees till July 9 this year as about 75 countries contacted the US for trade agreements.
On April 2, 10 percent of the original fee imposed on countries is still in force. Apart from this, 25 percent fee has also been levied on steel, aluminum and motor vehicle components. On the other hand, many Chinese companies have approached Indian exporters amidst the ongoing trade war with the US.
Director General of Federation of Indian Export Organizations (Fio) Ajay Sahai said that several Chinese companies contacted India’s companies at Canton Fair, which runs till May 5 in Guangzhu, China. The US has imposed heavy tax on these companies, due to which these companies want India to fulfill the order for American customers so that their American customers can remain.
