IND vs AUS 4th Test: India vs Australia fourth test is being played at Melbourne Cricket Ground. By the end of the first day’s play, Australia had scored 311 runs at the loss of 6 wickets, while on the second day the Kangaroo team was able to add 163 more in their innings and were all out for 474 runs. Steve Smith played a century inning of 140 runs for Australia, but the Indian bowlers were badly beaten here. Team India’s performance in bowling was so bad that one bowler gave away more than 100 runs.
Mohammad Siraj’s century
Mohammad Siraj has so far taken 13 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25), but proved to be a failure in the first innings of the Melbourne Test. He bowled 23 overs in the first innings, in which he gave away 122 runs. In Test cricket, economy rate of more than 3.5 and 4 is considered very bad, but here Siraj gave away runs at an economy rate of 5.30. He could bowl only 3 maiden overs out of 23.
Siraj-Akashdeep victim of nervous 90
On one hand, Mohammad Siraj proved to be a ‘centurion’ in bowling for India. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets but he also gave away 99 runs while bowling 28.4 overs. Especially on the second day, there was no edge in his bowling at all. Bumrah had the new ball in his hands, yet Steve Smith and Pat Cummins scored runs easily against him. Apart from him, Akashdeep gave away 94 runs while bowling 26 overs but unlike Siraj, he also took 2 wickets.
The strategy of 2 spinners was useless
India entered the Melbourne Test with three main fast bowlers and 2 spinners. Ravindra Jadeja played the role of being the main spin bowler of the team very well and sent 3 Australian batsmen to the pavilion. On the other hand, Washington Sundar bowled 15 overs, in which he took one wicket but his bowling did not show any edge.
