PM Narendra Modi Plane in Pakistan: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aircraft “India 1” used Pakistan airspace during a visit from New Delhi to Paris. The incident occurred when Afghan airspace was closed. Because of this, the Indian aircraft had to fly from inside their border with the permission of Pakistan. According to the report of ARY News, PM Modi’s aircraft passed through Pakistani areas like Sheikhpura, Hafizabad, Chakwal and Kohat and stayed in Pakistan’s air border for about 46 minutes.
This is not the first time the Indian Prime Minister’s aircraft has used the airspace of Pakistan. Earlier, during the visit from Ukraine to Delhi in August 2024, PM Modi’s aircraft used Pakistani airspace. At that time too, the aircraft entered the Pakistani air border and stayed there for 46 minutes. The first ship entered Pakistan via Chitral and passed through the air control areas of Islamabad and Lahore before Amritsar.
Aircraft restriction and reason behind it
After the Pulwama attack in 2019, Pakistan had shut down its airspace due to increasing military tension between India and Pakistan. 44 paramilitary police officers were killed in this attack, after which Pakistan imposed several sanctions on its airspace. However, in March 2019, Pakistan lifted these restrictions for civil flights and reopen the significant transit air corridor.
Results and diplomatic relations
There has been diplomatic tension between India and Pakistan on many issues, especially on issues related to Jammu and Kashmir. In August 2019, India canceled Articles 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir. After this decision, there was a lot of relationship between India and Pakistan. Both countries reduced their diplomatic relations and suspended bilateral trade. In recent years, there have been many discussions and controversies over the use of airspace between Pakistan and India, but this visit by Prime Minister Modi shows that in some circumstances requirements may be beyond geographical and diplomatic boundaries.
