Gujarat Titans Coo Statement on IPL Home Advantage: Cricket is a game where only the team playing on their home ground will not necessarily win. Usually, home advantage proves very important in some other sports including football, but this is not the case in cricket. Talking about IPL 2025, in the 24 matches played so far, the team has lost more than 10 times who were playing on their home ground. The recent example of this is RCB, which lost by 6 wickets to Delhi Capitals at the last Thursday M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Now Arvinder Singh, COO of Gujarat Titans, has also jumped in the debate of getting home advantage in IPL.
In the current season of IPL, Mentor Zaheer Khan of Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane and CSK head coach Stephen Fleming have also voiced that in IPL 2025, teams are not getting any home advantage.
No team is right …
Now during a conversation with the Times of India, the Chief Operating Officer of Gujarat Titans, Arvinder Singh, was asked whether the pitch should be prepared according to the home team? In response, he said, “It is not just a matter of this season, the rules of the Indian Premier League have been very clear from the beginning. The rules of cricket should be very clear and the same for everyone.” Arvinder Singh further said that no team should have the right to prepare the pitch according to its own. According to him, the rules of IPL do not give such approval to anyone.
What does the rule say?
In the IPL rules, section 1.11 says that along with choosing and preparing the pitch, the full right to organize the match is with the ground management. Talking about the Gujarat Titans team, it is currently at the top of the IPL 2025 points table. Gujarat’s team has registered 4 wins in five matches.
