answer: This step has been taken to prevent black marketing of Tatkal tickets and booking from fake IDs. According to the Railways, more than half of the online Tatkal tickets are sold within 10 minutes of the window opening, which includes a large number of agents and bots.
In the last one year, IRCTC has been of 3.5 crore fake user ID blocks.
