Indian Railways’ online ticket booking portal IRCTC and its app went down due to technical issues. People had to face this during the immediate peak time. Due to technical glitches during peak booking hours, there was more difficulty in booking Tatkal tickets.
According to the report of outage tracking platform DownDetector, around 2500 users reported outage cases at 10.25 am. At this time, complaints of outage on the platform were at their peak. Although the problems were resolved after some time, complaints of outage from many cities of India went viral on the internet.
According to the outage map of DownDetector, the website of IRCTC i.e. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation was down in many cities of India in the morning. These included names like New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Madurai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Jaipur, Lucknow and Kolkata.
People expressed anger on social media platform Although no statement has been issued by IRCTC regarding this yet, the users had to face a lot of trouble. Due to problems on IRTC website, users turned to social media. People posted a lot about this problem on social media platform X and showed a lot of anger and criticism against IRCTC.
One user wrote, ‘IRCTC website is down, there is a lot of difficulty in booking tickets, my payment is also stuck. Please look into this and resolve it as soon as possible. Another user wrote, ‘The IRCTC website has gone down again in an instant, this is very disappointing.’
IRCTC website was down on 9th December also This is the second time in December that the IRCTC website has been down, affecting ticket bookings of thousands of passengers. Earlier on December 9 also it was down. IRCTC had cited maintenance as the reason for this. IRCTC had said that from 4 pm on December 9 to 4 pm on December 10, new registration, change in login password and updating of profile password will not be possible.
What to do if IRCTC website is down When the IRCTC website is down, a down time message is often visible to the user, in which it is written that due to maintenance, e-ticketing service is not available, try after some time. In such a situation, users can call the customer care numbers 14646, 08044647999 and 08035734999, or can also express their problems through email, for which they can send a message to etickets@irctc.co.in.
IRCTC shares fell 21% in 6 months The impact of the outage was also seen on the shares of IRCTC and it saw a decline of about 0.74% on Thursday (26 December) and closed at the level of Rs 783. The company’s stock has fallen 3.92% in one month, 20.95% in 6 months and 9.98% in one year. Only this year i.e. from January 1 till now, IRCTC has given a negative return of 12.20%.
