When Ravichandran Ashwin returned to India on Thursday, December 19, a day after announcing his retirement from international cricket in the middle of the Test series against Australia, he was welcomed with flowers and bands at the Chennai airport. After which R Ashwin said that he does not regret the decision of his retirement at all.
Is Ashwin feeling remorse now?
After returning to India, Ashwin took the blessings of his parents in Chennai, after which he also spoke to the press. Ashwin, who retired after the third Test match in Brisbane, said,
“It may be emotional for many people and it may take some time for them to digest it but as far as I am concerned, it is a matter of great relief and satisfaction for me. This was a very natural decision for me and I had been thinking about it for some time. I realized this on the fourth day of the match and then I announced this decision. As far as I am concerned, this (retirement) was not a big decision for me because I am now moving forward on a new path.
What did Ashwin say on the question of captaincy?
When Ashwin was asked whether he regretted that he could never captain the national team, he rejected it outright. “I can’t do this anymore,” he said. I have no such regrets. The truth is that I don’t have even an iota of regret. I have seen people repenting but I have no regrets of any kind.

When Ashwin returned home, his parents hugged him and during this he looked very emotional. Ashwin said, “I did not believe that so many people would reach here.” I wanted to quietly reach home and rest but you guys made my day. I have been playing Test cricket for so many years but the last time I saw this kind of atmosphere was after the ODI World Cup in 2011.

Ashwin announces retirement after Gaba test
Ravichandran Ashwin surprised everyone on Wednesday by announcing his retirement from international cricket after the rain-affected third Test against Australia was drawn in Brisbane. Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the top spinners not only of India but of the world. The star spinner was also a part of the World Cup 2011 winning team and the Champions Trophy 2013 winning team. The right-arm spinner is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in Tests.

Ashwin has played a total of 106 matches for India and has taken 537 wickets. Whereas Ashwin has 156 wickets in ODI and 72 wickets in T20I. Along with bowling, Ashwin has also played many important innings for India with the bat. He has 3503 runs in his name in Test cricket, which includes 6 centuries and 14 half-centuries.
