Sa20 league: Praising former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who impressed in his debut year in SA 20, Parl Royals captain David Miller said that having a player like him is fantastic not only for the youth but also for him.
Karthik has scored 97 runs in six innings played so far in the league this year. He scored 53 runs from 39 balls in the last match against Jorgon Super Kings at Centurion on 30 January, but lost the team for not getting support from other batsmen.
In response to the question of ‘language’ on the eve of the first qualifier against Mi Cape Town, Parl Royals captain Miller said, “He has been playing at the highest level for 20 years and has immense experience. He has performed very well in India and IPL and later commentary and coaching. The knowledge and understanding they have is very good for the youth and me as well. ”
He said, ‘It is very good to have a player like him in the team. He did not get much opportunities in this session, but in difficult circumstances he played very well on the wanders. Miller dismissed any concern about his fitness before the Champions Trophy starting on February 19. He said, ‘I am feeling good. I took a break of a week. I have done a fitness test and seem to be doing everything well. Let’s see what we do tomorrow morning. ‘
Last week, South Africa’s Champions Trophy plans were shocked by Miller’s injury during the SA20 match against Durban Super Giants. He also said that England captain Joe will not be missing the route because there are players in the team who can perform well on the occasion. He said, “It is not possible to replace the player of that capacity, but I really believe that we have a team which is very favorable and the players coming are very positive and skilled.”
Miller said, “Therefore it is not a problem for us, the players are fully ready and nothing better than the semi -finals of South Africa 20.” He is not worried about defeat in the last two matches and said that only one or two performances are required to change the pace in T20 cricket.
He said, “Continuity has been fantastic in this session. Losing in the last two matches is not a matter of concern. The players are in excellent form and they have taken well. One or two players are needed to win the match and we are ready for it. When things are not going on according to you, you just have to stay in the game and this is only a moment that can change the speed. Just maintain trust in yourself. ‘
Miller said, “I know Cape Town is in great form in this season. His team has many match winners but in T20 it is about taking advantage of the opportunity and one or two players need to come forward and snatch the match from the opposition team. He also credited SA20 for the revival of South Africa cricket in the last few years.
He said, ‘This is great for South Africa cricket. Playing in front of magnificent audiences and getting such support. The entire credit for this goes to the Graeme Smith and the team, who has propagated it so well. I really feel that it will be very useful for many years to come. Miller is also greatly influenced by 18 -year -old Luan Dre Pretorius performance, which is second among the highest run scorers in South Africa 20 (323 runs in 10 matches).
