Most 5 Wicket Hauls in Test Cricket History Jasprit Bumrah: Jasprit Bumrah is making new records in cricket, now he has broken a record of Pakistani legend Shoaib Akhtar. Bumrah took five wickets in the second innings against Australia, which was the 13th 5-wicket haul of his Test career. In the history of Test cricket, Akhtar had taken five wickets in an innings 12 times, but Bumrah has broken this record in the 44th match of his career. Let us tell you that this legendary bowler of India has taken 203 wickets in 44 test matches so far.
On the fourth day of the Melbourne Test, Bumrah became the fastest bowler for India to complete 200 wickets in Test matches. The only Indian player who completed 200 wickets faster than him was Ravichandran Ashwin, who achieved this feat in his 37th Test match. As far as the topic of most 5-wicket hauls is concerned, Bumrah has left behind even stalwarts like Mitchell Johnson and Chaminda Vaas in this list. Both Johnson and Vaas had taken five or more wickets in a single innings of a Test match 12-12 times in their careers.
Bumrah has now equaled West Indies’ Michael Holding and Pakistan’s Saqlain Mushtaq in the list of most 5-wicket hauls. The bowler who took 5 or more wickets in an innings for India the most number of times was Ravichandran Ashwin, who did so 37 times in his career. This record in Indian fast bowling is in the name of former captain Kapil Dev, who had achieved the feat of taking five or more wickets in an innings 23 times in his 131-match career.
If we look at the statistics of Bumrah’s international cricket career, they have been brilliant and incredible. He has taken 204 wickets in Test, 149 in ODI cricket and 89 wickets in T20 matches. So far, he has played 203 matches in his international career, in which he has taken 404 wickets.
