Sachin Tendulkar on Karun Nair: Batting great Sachin Tendulkar on Friday termed the achievement of Karun Nair, who scored a flurry of runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, as ‘no less than extraordinary’ and expressed hope from the Vidarbha captain to ‘continue’ this streak.

Nair has been performing brilliantly in India’s top 50-over domestic competition. He has scored 752 runs in seven innings with five centuries and one half-century. During this period his average has also been 752 runs.

Tagging Nair, Tendulkar wrote on ‘X’, “Making 752 runs with five centuries in seven innings is nothing short of extraordinary.” He wrote, “Such performances don’t happen just like that. Such performances come from extreme focus and hard work. Stay strong and take advantage of every opportunity.

Tendulkar praised Nair’s performance at a time when the Ajit Agarkar-led national selection committee is scheduled to meet in Mumbai to pick the Indian team for the Champions Trophy and ODI series against England.

Due to Nair’s brilliant performance, Vidarbha team has reached the final of the tournament, where it will face Karnataka on Saturday. Nair is only the second batsman for the Indian team after Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in Tests.
