
Hockey news: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has given a certificate of category two to Vivekananda Yuva Bharti Kreedangan of Salt Lake, making it Kolkata the latest site to host national and international matches in India.
Hockey India wrote on ‘X’, “Congratulations to the young Bharti Kreedangan of Salt Lake, Kolkata for obtaining a certificate of category two of FIH. Big step for excellence in hockey. ”
According to the FIH ground certificate rules, at the time of hosting the competition, the category of FIH should be one or two grounds certificate near the ground. The grounds of Category One of the FIH are mainly designed to host the top level international hockey tournament while the FIH category two grounds are designed to host top level national tournaments and international matches.
Kolkata has also joined the clubs of cities like Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Ranchi, Chennai and New Delhi, which has got the green signal to host international matches. Giving a certificate to the site, FIH said, “FIH is happy to confirm that this hockey ground has been tested and this FIH category complies with the requirements of two hockey grounds.” This certificate Will remain valid till 13 December 2027.
