- L&T will give period leave to female employees, Sn Subrahmanyan Announced

Construction company Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has announced a one -day period leave to its female employees every month. The company’s chairman SN Subrahmanyan has taken this decision before the Women’s Day of March 8.
This decision will benefit more than 5400 women employees of the company. The company has a total of 60,000 employees, about 9% of the employees. L&T is the first company to do so in the engineering and construction sector.
Supreme Court has given policy instructions
On 8 July 2024, the Supreme Court has directed the Center to formulate a policy in the hearing on the petition seeking period leave. Then the court had said that the decision to give period leaves to women on our behalf will be harmful for women because companies will avoid giving jobs to women.

12 period leave to women employees in Odisha On 15 August 2024, the Odisha government announced a period leave every month by the Odisha government. In the new provision, women employees have been given additional casual leave of 12 days a year. These are different from the current 10 days CL and 5 days special CL.
75% women employees do not get period leave
According to a survey report by the work.com, about 75% of the female employees in India do not give their companies a period leave. The report said that about 34% of the women’s employees of the country consider period leave as their first priority. The survey was conducted on 70,000 female employees of more than 50 cities in the country.
SN Subrahmanyan, who advised employees to work for 90 hours
On January 11, SN Subrahmanyan had advised to work for 90 hours in a week during an online conversation at L&T’s internal meeting with his employee. He said that if possible, the company will also make you work on Sunday. Subrahmanyan also answered and questioned the questions of the employees during the conversation.
