Maharashtra News: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday hit out at the opposition parties, accusing them of not having faith in the Constitution. Fadnavis reached Nagpur for a welcome ceremony organized by party workers and supporters.
Fadnavis told reporters at Nagpur airport, “It is a happy moment that after becoming the Chief Minister, I have come to my birthplace and workplace. Nagpur is my family and my family is welcoming.” In the assembly elections held on November 20 in Maharashtra, the Mahayuti alliance had won 230 out of 288 seats. Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), an alliance of opposition parties that won only 46 seats, is alleging irregularities in the electronic voting machines (EVMs).
When asked about the opposition aggressively raising the EVM issue, Fadnavis said, “These people (opposition) are disappointed. They do not trust democracy and the Election Commission. They do not trust the Supreme Court, the Reserve Bank of India and the Comptroller and Auditor General. Therefore, they do not believe in the Constitution made by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.” The Chief Minister took part in a huge rally from Nagpur airport to his residence in Dharampeth. Large banners with his photograph were put up on the rally route.
