
Massive protest in nepal: The protesters seeking the restoration of the Hindu state in Nepal, on Friday (March 28, 2025), performed violently in Tinkun, Kathmandu. During this time, the protesters vandalized a building and set fire.
According to the report of Kathmandu Post, this protest rally started as a peaceful meeting, suddenly became furious, causing clashes between the police and the protesters. In which many security personnel and many people were injured. After violent performance, curfew has been announced by Nepal’s Home Ministry in Tinkun and Kathmandu.

The rally of monarchy supporters demanded to make Nepal a Hindu nation. In this rally, a big poster of Yogi Adityanath was also seen in the hands of the protesters, in which he was shown as a symbol of Hindu nationalism.
How did violence erupted during demonstrations?
From morning onwards, a large number of people under the leadership of the Joint Movement Committee came out on the streets to demand the restoration of Hindu nation. The protesters gathered in the Tinkun region, but as the crowd increased, the situation started deteriorating. The protesters broke the windows of a roadside building and set fire. After trying to break the security cordon, the police had to take action.
Conflict between police and protesters
As soon as the protesters tried to break the security cordon, the police released lathicharge and tear gas shells to stop them and disperse the crowd. At the same time, the protesters vandalized and set fire to the building, threw stones at the police, tried to enter government offices. During this time many protesters were detained. Deployment of security forces increased.
Joint movement committee and political support
The protest was led by the United Movement Committee led by Navraj Subedi. This movement was supported by controversial businessman Durga Prasadi and National Democracy Party leader Rajendra Lingden. The committee demands that Nepal be changed again into Hindu nation and constitutional monarchy. Many right -wing groups are promoting this movement. However, some sections are angry with Nepal’s decision to become secular.
Why is the demand for restoration of monarchy in Nepal arising?
Explain that Nepal was removed from the constitutional monarchy in 2008 and declared a secular republic, but some radical factions and Hindu organizations believe that Nepal should be made a Hindu nation again. Supporters argue that the monarchy is necessary to save Nepal’s cultural and religious identity, the public is not happy with the secular government. At the same time, the argument of the opponents is that democracy and secularism have become a new identity of Nepal. The return of the monarchy will take Nepal back.
