Pat Cummins Review Mohammed Siraj Wicket: As soon as the fourth day of India vs Australia Melbourne Test started, a controversial incident has come to light. By the end of the third day’s play, the Indian team had scored 358 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Therefore, when the fourth day’s play started, a ball from Pat Cummins took the edge of Mohammed Siraj’s bat and reached Steve Smith’s hands. The Kangaroo team started celebrating the wicket, but then the ground umpire signaled to send the decision to the third umpire because he felt that the ball had hit before Smith could take the catch.
This incident happened in the 119th over of the Indian innings when Pat Cummins was bowling. In fact, the last ball of the over took the edge of Mohammed Siraj’s bat, which was caught by Steve Smith, who was fielding at second slip. The ground umpire was not satisfied with the catch, so he indicated for the decision to be reviewed by the third umpire. It was very difficult to tell in the video replay whether the ball had been bumped or not, but in the end the third umpire, after looking very closely, declared Siraj not-out.
The drama on the field was not over yet as Australian captain Pat Cummins was dissatisfied with the third umpire’s decision. Therefore, Cummins indicated to re-review the third umpire’s decision but the ground umpires rejected his appeal. During this, commentators Ravi Shastri and Adam Gilchrist also looked unhappy with the decision of the third umpire. Shastri said during the commentary that the umpire took the decision very quickly. According to Shastri, the third umpire gave the decision after only 2 replays.
