
Bangladesh violence against women: The data of violence against women in Bangladesh has highlighted the country’s serious reality under the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus. The whole world is celebrating International Women’s Day on Saturday (8 March 2025), but the situation in Bangladesh is going to disturb. Fauzia Moslem, president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, said, “Society is moving towards anarchy, where freedom from criminal punishment is increasing. Law enforcement failure, lack of accountability is strengthening criminals.”
Increase in crimes against women
Talking to the major Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star, he said that if the whole society does not become aware, then it would be very difficult to deal with this crisis. Fauzia Moslem said, “The conversation has been replaced by justice, which is giving more power to those who oppose the rights of women and those who exploit the system.”
The condition of law and order in the country is very bad since the change of power in the last August. An increase in crimes against women has also been recorded. A report by Dhaka -based Human Rights Cultural Foundation (MSF) has revealed that 295 incidents of violence were reported against women and children in February 2025, which are 24 more than January.
Islamic fundamentalists are executing events
According to the report of the country’s leading daily The Dhaka Tribune, Islamic fundamentalist groups, terrorists and other extremist elements play a clear role in these events, which pose a serious threat to the safety of women. A total of 21 women associated with various businesses told the local media that they faced sexual harassment outside the house in the last three months. These women, aged 19 to 48 living in Dhaka, reported many cases of harassment on the road. He also said that he is afraid that he should not become a target of the crowd if he protested.
85 women raped in two months
According to Dhaka -based Human Rights Organization Ain O Salish Center, in February 2025, 46 women in the country were victims of rape. The victims were under 22–18 years of age. In January 2025, the number was 39, including 15 minors. In Bangladesh, there has been a surge in protests in recent months. The demand for resignation of home affairs advisor Jahangir Alam Chaudhary is increasing, which many people hold responsible for the deteriorating law and order in the country.
After the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh, there have been many cases of sexual violence against women. According to local media reports, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad first condemned the increasing incidents of crime against women and questioned the effectiveness of law enforcement in Bangladesh.
