Mohammad yunus on bangladesh election: There has been an atmosphere of discussion in Bangladesh for the past several days. A report by the recent Human Rights Organization claimed that the head of the interim government did not want election in Bangladesh early. Meanwhile, a close friend of Younus has claimed that the next election will be the most reliable election in the history of the country.
Close to Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus said that the next general election would be ‘the most reliable and peaceful’ in the history of Bangladesh. He stressed that the interim government has taken all necessary steps to ensure independent and fair elections.
Elections to be held in April next year, Younus announced
According to the Government Bangladesh News Agency (BSS), Yunus press secretary Shafiqul Alam made this remark during a conversation with reporters in Khulna city on Saturday. The Chief Advisor announced last month that the general elections in Bangladesh are to be held in the first fortnight of April next year.
Questions were raised by HRPB
Majal Murshid, Chairman of Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh, recently feared that elections may be postponed once again as the Election Commission has not announced any official program so far.
No provision of interim government in the constitution of Bangladesh: Murshid
Murshid said in his statement that since August 5, 2024, there has been an atmosphere in the country. The government has so far not taken any concrete steps to ensure the election involving independent, fair and all classes as per the demand of the public. He alleged that in the meantime, Dr. Muhammad Yunus was made the head of the interim government in an unconstitutional manner, whereas there is no provision of any such interim government in the Constitution.
Commission is silent about elections
Murshid also said that Chief Advisor went to London and met BNP acting chairman Tariq Rahman, after which it was said that elections will be held in February 2025, but since then the situation is not clear and the Election Commission is still silent. After the question was raised by this organization, now this has been answered by the head of the interim government.
