In Odisha’s ‘Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology’ (KIIT), the case of suicide of Nepali student has sent 2 officers of Nepal Embassy to Odisha by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. After the death of the student, angry students demonstrated on the campus, causing tension to spread.

Due to this, the college management forcibly expelled the students of Nepal from the campus. They were released at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar railway stations. Many students claimed that they were seated in a Puri-Patna train without reservation.

Nepal PM wrote on social media, the government is in touch with the officials concerned through the diplomatic channel. We have sent two officers from the New Delhi Embassy to help Nepali students. We are sure that our students have the option to stay in the hostel or return home depending on the choice.

The family said- fellow student was blackmailing

The cousin of the deceased student has lodged a complaint at the Infosity Police Station in Bhubaneswar. He has alleged that a student of the university was blackmailing his sister. Due to this, he committed suicide in the hostel on Sunday.

DCP Pinak Mishra of Bhubaneswar said, “The accused student is in custody. He is being questioned. He was caught at the airport while trying to escape on Sunday.”

Students accused- Guards are not allowing them to get out of hostels

The police have sealed the deceased’s room. The body has been kept in the mortuary until the parents arrive. Meanwhile, students from various states studying in the institute alleged that private security guards were not allowing them to leave the hostel.

Many videos of scuffle between students and guards and threatening students protesting by institute officials are also going viral. Meanwhile, a large number of police have been deployed in the campus.
