He had scored 303 runs in the recent season of IPL and now he is on fire with the bat at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Indian team might be seeing its future in him, but very few people would know that Nitish’s professional cricket career started in a very special way.
Nitish Kumar Reddy first came into limelight when he scored a triple century while playing for Andhra Pradesh in the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2017-18 tournament. At the age of just 14, he had scored 441 runs playing 345 balls. He scored a total of 1237 runs in that tournament, but his average was the biggest reason for discussion. He scored at an incredible average of 176.41 in the Vijay Merchant 2017-18 tournament. He is still the player who has scored the most runs in a season in the history of this tournament. For this brilliant performance, he was awarded the Under-16 Cricketer of the Season Award by BCCI that year.
Earned name from IPL
Nitish Reddy was continuously doing well in domestic cricket, but he got recognition for the first time in world cricket. Actually, before IPL 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad had bought it for Rs 20 lakh. He did not get to play many matches in the first season, but in the second i.e. 2024 season, he scored 303 runs including two half-centuries for SRH. His strike rate was around 143 and he also took 3 wickets while bowling in IPL 2024.
