Now unmarried couples visiting OYO will have to provide valid proof of their relationship for check-in. Booking can be done online or directly at the hotel. These mandatory documents will be asked from all customers.

The company has currently implemented these rules in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Later it can be implemented in other parts of the country also. More than 10 thousand hotels across the country book in partnership with OYO.

It has now been made mandatory to show proof of relationship for check-in at OYO hotels.

Demonstrations were taking place in Meerut regarding OYO

There were continuous protests against OYO in Meerut. Many times raids have taken place in hotels here. After complaints, the company has implemented this rule to clean its image. This rule has been implemented in Meerut from January 1, 2025.

The company said that it took feedback from people for this, in which many social organizations and people, especially from Meerut, had said that rooms should not be given to single people in OYO. Apart from this, people in some other cities have also appealed to stop unmarried couples from being allowed to check-in at OYO hotels.

Actually, some social organizations have filed a petition against OYO. In view of this, OYO has decided to change its policy. The company said that OYO has also given its partner hotels the right to reject couples’ bookings at their discretion in keeping with social sensitivity.
