These youths were implicated with attractive jobs in Thailand and then forced to work in Cyber ​​Crime Centers in Myanmar. The purpose of these scam centers is to cheat billions of dollars from people around the world.
According to the report of Geo News, these Pakistani youth were given a deception of good-paid jobs in Thailand, but on their arrival, they were forcibly sent to labor camps near Myanmar-Thailand border. Here he was made to work in illegal activities like fraudulent credit card schemes, online scams and cryptocurrency crimes. The owners of these centers confiscated their passports and mobile phones, causing them to completely cut off from the outside world.
Physical and mental harassment
These youth faced heavy harassment, including physical abuse, mental torture and forced labor without salary. He was kept away from any kind of conversation with his family, which made his situation even more frightening. Efforts to deal with these scam centers have also become complicated due to Myanmar’s fierce civil war, as these areas are out of the control of Myanmar government.
Scam industry spread in Myanmar
According to the United Nations, more than 120,000 people in Myanmar are working in these scam centers against their will, including most Chinese men. These scam centers cheat people through romance or investment scams on social media using foreign employees. The gangs implicate people by pretending high -paying jobs and then forcibly push them into cyber crimes.
Trying to escape Thailand and tragic consequences
In order to avoid these forced labor camps, eleven Pakistani youths crossed the river and dared to flee to Thailand, but this effort proved to be tragic. Five of these youths drowned in the river, while six were safely managed to reach Thailand. Later, the remaining youths from the intervention of the Pakistani Embassy were safely sent back to Pakistan, which ended their terrible pain.
Pakistani Embassy help and rescue operations
Pakistani High Commissioner Rukhsana Afzal in Thailand said that the embassy is continuously working to evacuate other Pakistani citizens trapped in Myanmar. He informed Syedal Khan Nasir, vice president of the Senate on a trip to Thailand. He also informed about the difficulties faced by the hostage due to financial obstacles.
Government’s severity and assistance
The vice president of the Senate expressed deep concern over the matter and assured that no Pakistani should live abroad illegally as per Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s policy. If someone is trapped there, he will be brought back respectfully. He promised to bring the matter to the notice of the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister, so that the government can take concrete steps in this direction.
Pakistani community support
The Pakistani community living in Thailand has also played an important role in helping these trapped citizens. Organizations such as the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) are providing food, housing and other facilities to Pakistanis who escape from Myanmar. Till these people are arranged for return, all their expenses are being borne by the Pakistani community living in Thailand.
