Pakistan-Afghanistan Conflict: The dispute on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan has reached a very serious situation. Both countries are continuously attacking each other’s territory by crossing the Durand Line. According to Afghan media, Russia has appealed to both sides to exercise restraint. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a statement on Sunday (December 29), “Moscow is concerned about the increasing tension on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and appeals to both sides to exercise restraint.”
What did the Foreign Ministry spokesperson say?,
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said, “We appeal to the parties concerned to exercise restraint and conduct constructive dialogue, aimed at resolving all differences peacefully.” Earlier on Saturday (28 December), 19 Pakistani soldiers and 3 Afghan civilians were killed.
According to Amu TV, the Pakistan Army has admitted that the Taliban had opened fire on its posts near the border with heavy weapons without any provocation.
Pak Armed Forces released report
According to the report, in a report released by the Pakistan Armed Forces on social media on Saturday (28 December), the Pakistani Army said that they retaliated, killing more than 15 terrorists.
The Pakistani Army said, ‘The clash was allegedly caused by an infiltration attempt with the support of Afghan Taliban elements.’
At the same time, Taliban has made a different claim saying that this attack was a response to the Pakistani Air Force attack in Paktika province of Afghanistan. According to the Taliban, 46 people, including women and children, were killed in those attacks targeting a refugee camp in Barmal district.
