Pakistan on Saturday recalled opener Imam Ul Haq to the squad for the Test series against West Indies after regular opener Saim Ayub was ruled out with an ankle injury.
Imam, who last played a Test for Pakistan in Australia in 2023-24, has been included in the 15-member squad along with ‘uncapped’ (who has not played international cricket) fast bowler Kashif Ali.
The selectors have dropped Abdullah Shafiq, who was regularly opening the innings with Sam in Tests and ODIs but was out of form during the recent tours of Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The selectors have also brought back spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, who were dropped from the team after the 2-1 win over England at home last year. The selectors have also included a third specialist spinner in the form of Abrar Ahmed. This shows that pitches suitable for spin will be prepared. West Indies is playing Test in Pakistan after 18 years.
Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Imam ul Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Huraira, Rohail Nazir, Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Salman Ali Aga, Mohammad Ali, Khurrun Shahzad and Kashif Ali.
