Billionaire Elon Musk wants regulatory approval for his Starlink internet service in Pakistan. For this, Musk’s Starlink satellite internet service has applied for an operational license in Pakistan, but it is awaiting approval from the Pakistan government before allowing users to log on.
Parliamentary committee held meeting regarding Musk’s application
The Parliamentary Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications in Pakistan on Wednesday (22 January) met with the officials evaluating Elon Musk’s application for Starlink internet service and obtained their information. Committee chairperson Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan told AFP, “Many parliamentarians of Pakistan have strongly condemned the recent anti-Pakistan propaganda on Elon Musk’s social media platform X.”
He further said, “Elon Musk has repeatedly highlighted claims that men of Pakistani origin were responsible for historical cases of rape targeting white girls in England.”
The chief of the committee said, “The committee has said that Elon Musk should be given approval only on the condition of apologizing. “Although we are not saying that this should be a pre-condition, but it should be a part of the discussion and we can only give our recommendations to the government.”
Elon Musk had raised the issue of sexual exploitation of 1400 girls
