All -rounder Fatima Sana has been retained the captain of the Pakistan team, which took part in the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifier to be held in Lahore from April 9 to 19. The selectors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have called young batsman Shawal Zulfikar back to the team after recovering from a shoulder injury.
Pakistan’s veteran all -rounder and former captain Nida Dar was not included in the team. Dar and another veteran player Alia Riyaz was excluded from the women’s central contract last November. But Alia has been selected in the national team for the qualifier. Pakistan is hosting the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifier in Lahore, participating in Bangladesh, Ireland, Thailand, Scotland and West Indies.
This is the second ICC tournament being organized by Pakistan this year. Earlier, the men’s Champions Trophy ended on March 9. The PCB said that the selection committee selected the Pakistani team after seeing the fitness of the players during the ongoing preparation camp.
