The Permanent Account Number (PAN) 2.0 project of the Income Tax Department has been approved. The aim is to make the use of PAN more safe. Through this, authentication will be easy. The new PAN 2.0 has a QR code which can be scanned and verified easily. People have many questions in their minds regarding PAN 2.0. Let’s understand this…
1. Question: Will the old PAN be invalid?
answer: No. There will be no impact on validity. Those who apply for a new PAN will get this PAN 2.0.
2. Question: How to get a new PAN?
answer: If you want a new PAN with QR code, you can apply. It will be received on the registered email. You can download it from there.
3. Question: Where to apply for this?
answer: Two agencies are authorized. These are Proteus (formerly NSDL e-Governance) and UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Ltd. (UTIITSL). Check the back of your PAN card to know which agency to contact for reprint.
4. Question: How to apply?
answer: Whose old pan is processed through protein. Or obtained through ‘Instant e-PAN’ facility on ITD’s e-filing portal. Such holders should apply for PAN reprint at https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/ReprintEPan.html. Here you can download PAN by filling information like PAN, Aadhaar and completing formalities like OTP. Those whose PAN is issued by UTI ITSL should visit https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/reprint.html.
5. Question: What is the fee for PAN with QR code?
answer: If you want a physical card, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50.
6. Question: How many days will it take to get PAN?
Answer: If the fee is deposited in physical form, the card will be reprinted and sent to the registered address. The new PAN card should arrive in 20 days.
7. Question: What will be the benefit of the new PAN?
answer: Biometric and Aadhaar integration will prevent identity theft and misuse of PAN. Tax filing will become easier with PAN 2.0.
