NASA Parker Solar Probe: American space agency NASA’s spacecraft Parker Solar Probe has achieved another important achievement. This vehicle has broken the record of going closest to the Sun. Parker Solar Probe traveled only 61 lakh km from the surface of the Sun and during this time its speed was 6.90 lakh kilometers per hour. This is such a fast speed that one can reach New York from Delhi in just one minute. This is the first time that a man-made object has set this record by going so close to the Sun.
According to the information shared by DD News, there is a concern in the minds of scientists during this historic mission. They are worried about whether Parker Solar Probe is safe or not. If this vehicle remains safe then signals will be received from the other side of the sun. If no signal is received then it would mean that the vehicle has been destroyed. In this regard, NASA officials say that the signal is expected to be received by December 27, after which the position of this vehicle will be known.
Parker Solar Probe took new pictures from close to the Sun
Parker Solar Probe has taken many photographs from close to the Sun which will be given to NASA in January. The data taken during this period will be obtained in the next few months when this vehicle will move further away from the Sun. According to the information, Parker completed his 17th revolution around the Sun in 2023, in which he made two records. The first record was of passing very close to the sun and the second was of the speed created by it. Under this mission, Parker traveled a distance of only 72.60 lakh km from the Sun and during this time its speed was 6.35 lakh kilometers per hour. Both these records were made on 27 September 2023.
Protection from the dangers of the sun with a heatshield
Parker Solar Probe was launched in 2018 and has a special heatshield and autonomous systems that protect it from solar storms. This spacecraft has already studied solar storms while being 5.70 crore kilometers away from the Sun. Studying these solar storms will help scientists understand the effect of solar dust flying between planets in space and this information will be helpful in understanding its effect on the gravity, atmosphere and magnetic field of the planets.
NASA’s Parker Solar Probe mission takes a step towards space exploration in a new direction. The data obtained from this mission conducted near the Sun will not only help in understanding our solar system better but will also prove to be an important step in the study of other planets and space phenomena.
