BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has claimed that the people of Delhi are dissatisfied with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rule and they will vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming assembly elections.
Tiwari, in an interview with PTI’s video service, said the AAP government has failed to solve the problems of Delhiites and is responsible for the poor condition of the capital.
“Every person in Delhi is upset with AAP’s rule and issues like polluted water, poisonous air, the condition of Yamuna, pending pensions for senior citizens, false promises and the broken ration card system,” he alleged.
“In the last 10 years, 21,000 people have died due to polluted water in the city,” Tiwari said. Instead of resolving the issues, Kejriwal has pushed Delhi into debt. People are now evaluating his government instead of trusting his new promises.
The BJP MP criticized Kejriwal, saying he had failed to resolve basic issues like providing clean drinking water to the people.
He said, “Even after ruling for 10 years, he talks about providing clean water. Delhiites can no longer be misled.
Tiwari also targeted Kejriwal on the issue of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants.
He said, “Kejriwal helped illegal immigrants become voters. This is why people wonder how you won despite public dissatisfaction.
Tiwari said that early announcement of names of candidates for the elections is not a guarantee of victory.
“AAP has exposed its shortcomings by announcing its candidates early, sidelining its sitting MLAs and showing no confidence in them,” he said. Instead, he has given tickets to many outsiders.
AAP released its first list of 11 candidates for the Delhi elections on November 21, deleting the names of three sitting MLAs and fielding six leaders from BJP and Congress.
Earlier this month, AAP released its final list of candidates, becoming the first party to announce all 70 candidates.
On the question of BJP not declaring the chief ministerial face in Delhi, Tiwari said, “Commitment matters in BJP and any worker can become the chief ministerial face.”
“Our focus is to bring Delhi under BJP rule and align it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘double-engine’ model,” he said.
On AAP recently announcing various schemes to woo voters, he said BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra are already providing similar benefits to people, especially women.
Assembly elections are to be held in Delhi in February next year.
