Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Mauritius President Dharam Gokhul on Tuesday. During this time, the two leaders discussed further strengthening bilateral relations. Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Mauritius on a two -day state visit on Tuesday morning, met Gokhul in ‘State House’.
PM Modi wrote on the social media platform x, ‘There was a very good meeting with the President of Mauritius, His Excellency Dharambir Gokhul. He is well aware of India and Indian culture. I thanked for inviting Mauritius to be a part of the National Day celebrations. We discussed the methods of further promoting bilateral relations in various fields.
PM Modi gave special gift to Mauritius Prime Minister
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that during the meeting, the two leaders exchanged ideas on deepening special and intimate bilateral relations between India and Mauritius. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, he recalled shared history between the two countries and strong relations between the people of the two countries. Prime Minister Modi said that it is an honor for him to join Mauritius’ National Day celebrations for the second time as the chief guest. Prime Minister Modi handed over OCI cards to President Gokhul and first woman Vrinda Gokhul as a special honor. He also presented the holy water of Sangam in a brass and copper vessel from Mahakumbh as a gift to President Gokhul. Modi also presented Gokhul a superfood Makhana of Bihar.
