It included many other issues including trade, security. However, during this period, PM Modi US President Donald Trump has emphasized the need for peace talks on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. PM Modi clarified that India has not been neutral, but has always been in favor of peace. He said, “This is not the era of war,” and solution can be solved only through conversation to end the war.
On Wednesday (12 February), President Trump spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone. According to the BBC report, long and concrete talks with President Vladimir Putin, where both agreed that millions of deaths in the Russia-Ukraine war needed to be stopped.
Donald Trump claimed in his previous election campaign, if he was President at the place of Biden, he would never let the war between Russia-Yuran. Apart from this, he also said that if he becomes US President again, he will end the war between Russia and Ukraine in a day. However, Russia’s United Nations Ambassador had reacted to this, saying that in this type of situation it is not possible to end the war in a day. The Russian ambassador said that time and comprehensive diplomacy is required to solve serious conditions like war, and it cannot be resolved in such a short time.
India’s peace support
Prime Minister Modi reiterated that India has always supported peace and has considered talks to end the war as a solution. He had earlier clarified during the meeting with Putin that the solution of war could not be found in the battlefield. This dialogue is considered an important initiative to establish peace globally, where both India and the US have taken steps towards intensifying their efforts.
