Punjab aap: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will meet Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, state ministers and party MLAs in Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting is taking place amidst the speculation of AAP’s crushing defeat in the Delhi assembly elections and increasing dissatisfaction in the party’s Punjab unit.
However, ‘AAP’ MP Malvinder Singh Kang did not pay attention to the news of dissatisfaction, calling the Tuesday meeting a “regular strategy session”. He said, “This type of process is common in the party. Feedback is taken from all units to make future strategies. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP will meet MLA, Arvind Kejriwal and discuss further strategy. ”According to party sources, the discussion will be focused on strategizing for the Delhi election results and formulating for the Punjab elections in 2027.
‘AAP’, which has been in power in Delhi for a decade, suffered a major setback in the February 5 elections. ‘AAP’ won only 22 seats out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. The BJP has secured ‘AAP’ from the power of the national capital by securing 48 seats. In such a situation, concern has increased in other states for ‘AAP’.
Tuesday’s meeting important amid reports of dissatisfaction in AAP
Tuesday’s meeting is considered important amid reports of dissatisfaction within AAP’s Punjab unit. There are speculation that some MLAs are unhappy with the leadership of the party and are considering other options. ‘AAP’ won 92 out of 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly elections in 2022 and won a stunning victory. Although recent developments have questioned internal solidarity, some believe that the party’s leadership in Delhi has an impact on the Punjab government. There is also speculation that Kejriwal can now consider a more direct role in Punjab politics.
Ludhiana assembly seat is currently vacant
The assembly seat of Ludhiana is currently vacant, so political supervisors are also discussing Kejriwal’s possibility of contesting elections from there and becoming part of the Punjab government. Pravesh Verma of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has defeated ‘AAP’ from the New Delhi seat of Delhi Assembly. Opposition leaders are talking about ‘AAP’ being a similar situation in Punjab where only three of the 13 candidates of AAP won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Punjab is the only state where ‘AAP’ is still in power, so the result of Tuesday’s meeting can be important for the future direction and stability of the party.
