Under the leadership of Councilor Anup Kumar Annu, a rally was taken out from CAD intersection to KDA.
Councilor Anoop Kumar said that during the Congress government, the then UIT (now KDA) launched a rehabilitation scheme for the families living in Chambal Colony near Sakatpura Thermal intersection. Under the scheme, every family behind Kund Kund Colony was to be given a house for Rs 8 lakh 65 thousand. UIT built 350 houses. Somehow 250 families deposited Rs 20,000 each in the scheme. After which UIT conducted lottery and gave receipt of allotment.
It has been over a year now. Houses have not yet been allotted to poor families. KDA is talking about canceling the lottery and returning the deposited amount of Rs. 20-20 thousand to the allottees. Releases are being published in newspapers every day. People from poor families want to buy a house. Sitting ready to pay the installments. But KDA is cheating poor families. Today a memorandum has been given to the KDA Secretary. If houses are not allotted to poor families, we will block Thermal intersection on 12th December.
