
America Religious Population: There has been a recent important study in the US, which was carried out under Religious Landscape Study – RLS. The purpose of this study was to understand how many religions people are in America and in which area they live. This study highlights the religious character of America, including religious identity, population distribution and details of age groups.
This study revealed a shocking figure that 29 percent of America’s population does not believe in any religion. Although this figure was increasing for the last few years, now it has come in stability. Experts believe that this is a better sign for America, which is helpful in maintaining balance in society.
Christian population decline
According to the study, 62 percent of America’s population still considers Christianity. However, since 2014, it has declined by 9 percent points, and since 2007 there has been a decrease of 16 points.
Regional Distribution: 21 percent of Christians live in midwests, 16 per cent in North East, 42 per cent in South, and 21 per cent in West.
Age Group: 14 per cent Christians are 18-29 years old, 28 per cent are 30-49 years old, 28 per cent 50-65 years old, and 29 per cent are over 65 years.
Muslim population in america
Adult Muslims are 1 percent of the total population of America.
Regional Distribution: In 20 per cent midwests, 29 per cent in North East, 33 per cent in South and 18 per cent in West.
Age Group: 35 percent of Muslims are 18-29 years old, 42 per cent are 30-49 years old, 13 per cent 50-65 years old, and 8 per cent are over 65 years.
Presence of Hinduism
1 percent of the population in the US is adult Hindu, which extends in various fields.
Regional Distribution: In 13 per cent midwests, 26 per cent in North East, 32 per cent in South, and 29 per cent in West.
Age Group: 22 percent of Hindus are 18-29 years old, 51 percent are 30-49 years old, 17 percent 50-65 years old, and 4 percent are over 65 years.
Presence of Buddhism
1 percent of the population in America considers Buddhism.
Regional Distribution: 10 per cent in midwests, 13 per cent in North East, 32 per cent in South, and 45 per cent in West.
Age Group: 23 percent of Buddhists are 18-29 years old, 37 percent are 30-49 years old, 18 percent 50-65 years old, and 21 percent are more than 65 years.
Presence of Judaism
The US has more Jewish population than Hindu-Muslim, which is 2 percent of the total population.
Regional Distribution: 9 per cent in midwests, 42 per cent in North East, 26 per cent in South, and 23 per cent in West.
Age Group: 18 percent of Jews are 18-29 years old, 31 per cent are 30-49 years old, 20 per cent 50-65 years old, and 30 per cent are over 65 years.
America’s religious background
Religious Landscape Study has given an opportunity to better understand the religious background of America. While Christianity is in prominence, other religions also have an important presence. The presence of Muslim, Hindu and Judaism is a sign of diversity in America, which makes it a multi -religious society. In addition, stability in secularism reflects the balance of society.
