Rohit Sharma set to retire: The current captain of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma is going to take retirement after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25). According to a media report, Rohit is going to take a big decision regarding his career after the current series. Let us tell you that under his captaincy, India has failed to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a series which Team India has been winning for the last four times. At the same time, his individual performance has also not been anything special, he has scored only 31 runs in 5 innings of the series against Australia.
According to TOI report, top BCCI officials and selectors have already spoken to Rohit and it seems as if the ‘Hitman’ will not change his decision. The date of retirement has not been revealed yet, but according to the report, Rohit can end his Test career after the Sydney Test. If India reaches the final of the World Test Championship, then Rohit can talk to the selectors to continue as captain for some more time.
After the defeat of Melbourne Test, captain Rohit Sharma had said that he was definitely hurt by this defeat. On one side is Jasprit Bumrah, who has single-handedly taken 30 wickets in the series against Australia. On the other hand there is Rohit Sharma, who has scored only 31 runs. It is possible that Rohit’s Test retirement is not far away but he does not want to retire from the longer format without a fight in the Sydney Test.
What did Rohit Sharma say on Melbourne’s defeat?
India had lost by 184 runs in the Melbourne Test, due to which Australia has taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Rohit Sharma said on the defeat that there are many things which are not going according to him. He also told that this defeat is mentally shocking.
