Ukraine war: Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday (January 24) that the Ukraine war could be avoided if Donald Trump was not overcome in 2020. Putin told the media that in February 2022, Russia’s attack on Ukraine was a crisis that could have been prevented from being chaired by Trump. He said, “If Trump’s victory had not been taken away in 2020, it would not have been a crisis of 2022.”
Putin praised Donald Trump and described him as “smart and practical person”. He said that if Trump were in power, it would have been possible to negotiate with America to end the war. Putin also said that Russia is always ready for a compromise on the Ukraine issue. He said “We have always said and I repeat that we are ready to negotiate on Ukraine issue.”
Russia told Kyiv government “illegal rule”
However, Putin’s statement does not match with the recent statement of Russia’s Foreign Ministry. The Ministry condemned the supply of arms to Ukraine on behalf of Western countries, describing the Kiev government as “illegal rule”. The statement said “Despite the talk of peace talks, no actual preparations are being seen from West and Kiev.”
Ukraine opposed Putin-Trump talks
Ukraine’s President Volodimir Jailnsky’s office dismissed the Putin-Trump dialogue, saying that no peace talks are possible without the participation of European representatives. Jailonsci’s office said that extensive participation is necessary for the end of war.
Trump claims to end war in 24 hours
Trump had earlier claimed that if he were in power, Russia-Ukraine could end the war in 24 hours. However, despite his becoming President, the war continues. Experts believe that Trump can try a peace agreement by putting pressure on both Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, Trump had earlier warned that if Russia is not ready for talks, he would impose strict restrictions and increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
