
Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee delegation meeting Pakistan High Commissioner

Shiromani The committee’s delegation included Chief Secretary and Member Sardar Kulwant Singh Mannan, Member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Secretary Sardar Pratap Singh and Meet Secretary Sardar Jaswinder Singh Jassi. Sardar Kulwant Singh Mannan and brother Rajinder Singh Mehta, members of the delegation, said that for some time, a large number of names have been cut from the list of Sikh devotees sent by Pakistan by the Shiromani Committee. In this regard, he met Pakistan High Commissioner and appealed to simplify the visa process and respect the sentiments of the devotees.

Last year, the batch left for Pakistan on the Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The delegation said that the Shiromani Committee every year for the darshan of the historic gurudwaras in Pakistan on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Day (Baisakhi), Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Arjan Dev, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Parva The batch sends. For this, the state of Punjab has been allotted quota of 1800, 600, 300 and 1800 visa respectively.
Demand to send a batch on Martyrdom Day
The delegation said that this year, the Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji is being celebrated on 30 May 2025 (Jyesht Sudi 4) by the Shiromani Committee and Sikh Sangat. He demanded that visas be issued to Indian Sikh devotees for this day.
The delegation told the Pak High Commissioner that from 2012, the batch could not be sent as per the Nanakshahi calendar sanctioned by the Shiromani Committee, as Pakistan refuses to issue a high commission visa due to the differences in the dates. This hurts the religious sentiments of Indian Sikh devotees.
Appeal to honor the feelings of devotees
The delegation urged the Pakistan High Commissioner to issue a visa to maximum devotees as per the list sent by the Shiromani Committee, keeping in mind the religious sentiments of Sikh devotees and their reverence for historical gurdwaras.
The delegation also said that the philosophy of these historical gurudwaras is very important for the Sikh community and making the visa process simple and transparent will help strengthen cultural and religious relations between the two countries.
