Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif thanked US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (March 5, 2025) for accepting and appreciating the role of Pakistan in anti -terrorism efforts.
Donald Trump has thanked the Pakistani government for helping Mohammad Sharifullah alias Zafar’s arrest. Sharifullah supported and operated activities on behalf of ISIS-K for several deadly attacks including AB Gate attack in 2021.
Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) was attacked on August 26, 2021 when American and other coalition military forces were conducting withdrawal operations at the airport as part of the abolition of the American campaign in Afghanistan. The attack took place a few days after the Taliban gained control over Kabul.
Sharif said in a post on social media platform X that the terrorist is an Afghan citizen and he has been caught in a campaign on the border of Afghanistan. Sharif said, “We thank US President Donald Trump for accepting and appreciating the role and support of Pakistan in anti -terrorism efforts in the region, which references to the recent Pakistani security forces being holding the top level commander of ISKP, Sharifullah, who is an Afghanist citizen.”
He said that the wanted terrorist was arrested in a successful campaign conducted in the Pakistan-Afghan border area. He said, ‘As is well known, Pakistan has always played an important role in anti -terrorism efforts, which aims to not allow terrorists and terrorist groups to use safe shelter or not to use its land to work against any other country.’
Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan will continue to partner closely with the US to ensure regional peace and stability. He said, ‘We are adamant on our resolve and unbreakable commitment to deal with all kinds of terrorism. In this effort, Pakistan has sacrificed the lives of more than 80,000 brave soldiers and citizens.
In his first address to the US Parliament, Trump said that the person responsible for killing 13 American military forces during the return of America from Afghanistan in 2021 has been arrested with the help of Pakistan. He said, “Tonight, I am happy to declare that we have just caught the top terrorist responsible for that atrocities and is being brought to stand in the dock of American justice.”
