On a Pakistani show ‘Outside Edge Live Show’, Mohammad Hafeez said that the great cricketers playing in the 1990s have not given anything to Pakistan cricket. He said, “I have been a big fan of players who played in the 1990s. But when it comes to his legacy, he has not given anything to Pakistan. They did not win any ICC event. He lost the World Cup of 1996, 1999 and 2003. We reached the finals of the 1999 World Cup, but lost badly.”

When Mohammad Hafeez was cursing veterans playing in the 1990s, Shoaib Akhtar was also present in the discussion there. Responding to Hafeez’s statement, Shoaib Akhtar said, “In ODIs, which Pakistan has defeated India 73 times, it happened in the same period when he used to play himself.” Speaking in the middle, Hafeez tried to praise Imran Khan’s leadership, but Shoaib Akhtar jokingly lashed out at Hafeez and said, “Now you cannot hide your words, this video has been recorded and you have targeted all the big players of the 1990s.”
