South korea’s former president: According to a report by Reuters, a South Korean court on Friday (March 7) canceled the arrest warrant of the country’s President, Union Suk Yol, facing impeachment. With this decision of the court, the way of release of Yu Suk Yolk from jail has been cleared. However, there are still cases in the case of rebellion related to the implementation of martial law on Youn Suk.
According to a report by Reuters, the Seoul Central District Court said in a statement, “The court gave this decision on the basis of the prosecution, which came after the end of the time given to him to keep them in custody.” Apart from this, the court also questioned this decision on the process of investigation being conducted by two different agencies of the case. ”
Criminal allegations of court not rejected
However, the court in its judgment has not canceled the criminal allegations caused by Youn’s arrest. This case is not related to impeachment and its proceedings are still pending in the constitutional court.
The court said, “Both these incidents took place on December 3, 2024 after the announcement of martial law, which also took place due to the impeachment of the Prime Minister who took charge as a temporary President in the country.”
Currently, South Korea’s Finance Minister Choi Song-Moka is currently temporarily prominent in the country and has tried to stabilize the economic markets and assure international partners amidst chaos in government leadership.
Yu’s lawyer welcomed the decision of the court
Yun’s lawyers and their President’s Office welcomed the decision of the District Court. He said, “It is clear from this decision that a case was implemented against Youn for fulfilling political objective without legal basis.” Yun’s lawyers said in a statement, “The court’s decision shows that the rule of law in this country is still alive”
After this, the lawyers of Yun demanded his immediate release. However, he believed that Yu could not be released immediately as this decision could be appealed on behalf of the prosecutors. But the prosecutor office did not immediately comment on the court’s decision.
