Impeachment against South Korea President: South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is currently facing impeachment and can be arrested at any time. Seoul police has reached his house to arrest him with an arrest warrant. But a crowd of Yoon’s supporters blocked police officers outside his residence. Dozens of police buses and thousands of police officers have been deployed around Yoon Suk-yeol’s residence to arrest Yoon.
Imposing martial law proved costly for Yoon Suk-yeol
Deposed South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol found it costly to impose martial law in the country. Yoon came under target by suddenly imposing martial law in the country on the night of 3rd December (Tuesday). Despite this, a crowd of protesters has gathered outside his residence, shouting slogans in his support and trying to stop the police from arresting Yoon.
Impeachment brought on 14 December
Impeachment was brought in the Parliament on December 14 (Saturday) to remove South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol from the post of suddenly imposing martial law in the country. After this, an arrest warrant was issued by the Seoul court against the removed President Yoon Suk-yeol on Tuesday (December 31, 2024).
It is noteworthy that this is the first case in the history of South Korea, when an arrest warrant has been issued against a President. The Seoul Court has given instructions to senior officials of the Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) for this. Let us tell you that Yoon Suk-yeol was summoned several times for questioning in the case but he did not appear before the police even once. After this an arrest warrant was issued against him.
Martial law was suddenly imposed in the country
President Yoon Suk-yeol suddenly declared martial law in the country on the night of 3 December (Tuesday). Due to which there was an earthquake in the politics of South Korea. Special forces and helicopters were sent inside the Parliament. After this, the MPs of his party along with the opposition rejected his order and forced him to withdraw this decision. Currently the President is facing impeachment and his decision is being criminally investigated.
Justice Minister confirmed
South Korea’s Justice Ministry recently confirmed that Yoon is the country’s President, who is banned from leaving the country while in office. Last week, President Yoon declared emergency martial law for a decisive battle against ‘anti-national’ and ‘communist’ forces in support of North Korea.
