Smith missed the record of 10,000 runs by just 1 run. On Sunday, on the third day of the match, Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna showed Smith the way to the pavilion. While chasing runs in the fourth innings of Sydney Test, Steve Smith returned to the pavilion after scoring 04 runs in 9 balls. If Smith had scored 05 runs, he would have completed 10,000 Test runs, but he had to return to the pavilion only on 9999 Test runs. Now Smith will have to wait for the next series to complete 10,000 test runs.
Australia team will play the next test series against Sri Lanka. The 2-match test series between the two teams will start from January 29. This series will be played hosted by Sri Lanka.
