Subramaniam Badrinath Criticized Shubman Gill: After India’s 3-1 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, questions are being raised on every player of the team who proved to be a complete failure. In recent times, Shubman Gill is also being criticized. Gill’s recent test performance is becoming a sign of trouble for his career. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Gill scored only 93 runs in 5 innings, due to which questions are being raised on his game.
25-year-old Shubman Gill was out of the Perth Test due to injury and in the Melbourne Test, the team management did not include him in the playing eleven, but gave preference to three all-rounders – Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Now former Indian batsman Subramaniam Badrinath has given a sharp reaction to Gill’s performance and his attitude. He not only pointed out the flaws in Gill’s game, but also said that if he had been from Tamil Nadu, he would have been dropped from the team. Before him, Kris Srikkanth had called Gill ‘overrated’.
Speaking on Star Sports Tamil, Subramaniam Badrinath said, “Gill’s performance has not been at the level that was expected from him. Scoring runs or not scoring is a different matter, but you have to show intent and aggression. I had expected him to be the Australian batsman.” Will tire the bowlers.”
Subramaniam Badrinath praised the partnership of Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne, citing the example of Adelaide Test. He said, “Making the ball old and making it last longer for the team is also a big contribution. Labuschagne and McSweeney did this and made Bumrah tired. This is the contribution for the team.”
Taking his point further, Subramaniam Badrinath said that if Shubhman Gill had been from Tamil Nadu, he would have been dropped from the team by now. He also raised questions on Gill’s batting style and said, “You cannot say that I play like this. It is necessary to change the game according to the circumstances. Shubman did not show this in this series. Even his fielding was average. He could not survive at slip and point.
