
Sunita williams return: NASA’s astronauts splashed on the sea near the coast of Florida at 3.30 am on Wednesday (March 19, 2025) at SpaceX’s Dragon Spacecraft. Sunita Williams was accompanied by her partner Buch Wilmore, Nick Heg and Russian astronaut Alexander Gorbunov in the Dragon Spacecraft, but do you know about these space travelers, let’s also take a look at them.
Buch Wilmore
The full name of Buch Wilmore is Barry E. Wilmore, who is also a retired captain of the American Navy. Buch, a resident of Mount Juliet in Tennessee, received a degree from Tennessi Technological University and Tennessi University. Buch also has an experience of two space missions. He was a flight engineer of Expedition 41. He also took charge of the station. He returned to Earth in March 2015.
The special thing is that during the mission, he also had a spacewalk four times. During this time he spent 167 days in space. Earlier in the year 2009, Buch has also been a pilot of STS-129 Space Shuttle and now he reached the space station on 5 June 2024 with Sunita Williams.
Colonel Nick Hague
Nick Hague was selected as an astronaut in 2013 after NASA in 2013 after a degree in Aerospace Engineering Science from the US Air Force Academy. Nick Hague is originally from Kankas. In 2000, he did a Masters in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Nick Hague completed training in Astronaut Candidate in July 2015. After this, during his first Mission – Soyuz MS -10 in 2018, he and his Russian partner Alexi Ovachinin had to face a technical problem, after which the mission had to be completely canceled. After this, in 2019, Nick Hague Soyuz worked as a flight engineer at the space station for 203 days during the Expedition 59 and 60 after the MS-12 was launched.
Nick also worked in the US Space Force from 2020 to 2022 and also worked as a director of Test and Evolution in Pentagon. In 2022, he had to come back to NASA to work on the Boeing Starlineer program. This was followed by NASA’s SpaceX Crew-9 Mission Commander on September 2024 and reached ISS to return Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmore with Alexander Gorbunov.
Alexander Gorbunov
Roskosmos Cosmonot Alexander Gorbunov, a resident of Jhleznogorsk, Russia, completed his studies in engineering from Moscow Aviation Institute. He was working as an engineer in the Rocket Space Corp in 2018 before becoming a cosmonot. He worked as a flight engineer during the Expedition 71/72 on ISS. This was the first visit to Alexander Gorbunov as the Mission Specialist for Crew-9.
