HTS Commander offers Amnesty to Soldiers: Commander Abu Mohammed al-Julani, the head of the rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Syria, said on Tuesday (December 10, 2024) that Syria’s new regime will release a list of Bashar al-Assad officials who “kill the Syrian people are responsible for torturing.”

In a statement issued by the Military Operations Command, the HTS commander said, “We will pursue war criminals and also demand their arrest from the countries to which they have fled.”

However, HTS commander Abu Mohammed al-Julani said Syria’s new government was committed to granting amnesty to those “whose hands are not stained with the blood of the Syrian people” and to all army personnel who served as mandatory soldiers under the Assad regime. According to Syria’s government news agency SANA, the amnesty offered by the new regime is aimed at reuniting army personnel who were arrested or fled during the overthrow of the Assad regime.
