After the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, India took strict measures about Pakistan, in which Pakistan’s return, closure of Attari Wagah border, stop exemption of SAARC visas to Pakistanis, reduce the number of staff in Pakistan High Commission and the most important decision was to suspend Indus Water Treaty. India’s attitude is clear that until Pakistan does not resolve the issue of terrorism and POK, no other issue will be discussed with it.
Pakistan put the issue of Indus Water Treaty in front of 57 Muslim countries in OIC and after Operation Sindoor, the delegation of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who was sent on a trip to different countries, also raised the issue of water to put pressure on India. However, all the efforts of Pakistan failed and no country took interest.
65 years ago in 1960, the World Bank’s mediation reached an agreement between India and Pakistan on the sharing of Indus river, which is valid for both countries. Under the treaty, Pakistan has the right of Pakistan on the water of Western rivers- Indus, Jhelum and Chenab and India on the water of eastern rivers- Ravi, Beas and Sutlej. In this way, India gets 20 percent water and Pakistan gets 80 percent water. In this sense, water has more dependence on this.
After the Pahalgam terror attack, India on the night of 6-7 May Operation Sindoor was launched and destroyed nine bases of Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist organizations located in Pakistan. Due to this, Pakistan tried unsuccessfully to attack India’s military bases, in response to which India took action on Pakistan. In India’s action, a large airbase like Noor Khan of Pakistan suffered a lot of damage. Pahalgam The tension between the two countries has increased considerably since the terrorist attack.
