
New Delhi. Who thought that the sales of Maruti, who occupied more than 50 per cent of India’s vehicle market, would decline and Tata Motors, who was out of the passenger segment, would increase the possession of the market on the market. But, due to its advanced technology and change, today Tata’s cars have made a mark in the market. Looking at the march figures, Maruti and Hyundai i.e. a few years ago, the sale of market number one and two car companies has seen a decline, while the sales of Tata and Mahindra have increased.
Tata Motors released the data stating that his domestic sales remained stable in March and 90,500 units of vehicles were sold. In the same month last year, the company sold 90,822 units. Overall, the sales of passenger vehicles (PV), including electric vehicles, increased by 3 per cent to 51,872 units, compared to 50,297 units last year. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles MD Shailesh Chandra said that in the financial year 2025, sales of passenger vehicles are expected to reach 43 lakh units, which shows a 2 per cent increase.
What about Maruti Suzuki
The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India said that the number of vehicles sent to its total domestic passenger vehicle dealers declined to 1,50,743 units, compared to 1,52,718 units in the same month last year. The mini segment cars, including Alto and S-Presso, were slightly reduced to 11,655 units, while in March 2024 it was 11,829 units.
Most sold compact car
Sales of compact cars, including Baleno, Dzire, Ignis and Swift, decreased to 66,906 units, compared to 69,844 units in the same month last year. However, sales of utility vehicles including Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga and XL6 increased to 61,097 units as compared to 58,436 units in March 2024. For FY 2025, the total domestic passenger vehicle sales were 17,60,767 units, while it was 17,59,881 units in the 2023–24 financial year.
Hyundai also declines
Once in the market, Hyundai Motor India stated that the number of units sent to its domestic dealers in March was 51,820, compared to 53,001 in the same period last year.
The company’s domestic sales stood at 5,98,666 units in the last financial year, compared to 6,14,721 units in FY 2024.
Mahindra also won
Mahindra & Mahindra recorded a tremendous growth of 18 per cent in domestic passenger vehicle sales in March, as compared to 48,048 units, compared to 40,631 units in the same month last year. The total domestic PV sales for FY 2024-25 were 5,51,487 units, while in 2023-24 it was 4,59,877 units, which is a 20 per cent increase in sales of the company.
Growth in Kia-Toyota
Kia India said that in March, the number of units sent to dealers in its domestic market increased by 19 per cent to 25,525 units, the company sent 21,400 units to its dealers in March 2024. In the financial year 2025, the company sold a total of 2,55,207 units, which is 4 per cent higher than the 2,45,634 units of 2024. Similarly, Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 30,043 units last month, which is 11 per cent higher than the 27,180 units in March last year. JSW MG Motor India sold 5,500 units of vehicles in March, while the company sold 5,050 units in the same month last year. It shows a 9 percent rise.
